The Honda Classic is an annual golfing event held at PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens that will run from February 24th until March 1st, 2020. The Honda Classic is a professional golf tournament on the PGA Tour founded 45 years ago in 1972 as Jackie Gleason‘s “Inverrary Classic” and is usually the first of the Florida events in late winter following the “West Coast Swing.” Since 1982, Honda (American Honda Motor Company) has been the title sponsor of The Honda Classic. The tournament has been located in venues such as Miami, Lauderhill, Weston and Coral Springs prior to coming to Palm Beach Gardens in 2003. The Honda Classic has called PGA National Resort & Spa its home since 2007. Since 2007, the tournament’s main beneficiary is the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation, chaired by Barbara Nicklaus, wife of golf legend Jack Nicklaus.

A host of professional golfers flock to this event and spend the entire week playing and interacting with the crowds. Some celebrated golfers who have won this tournament before include Jack Nicklaus in 1977 and 1978, the only consecutive winner in its history as well as PGA pros Rickie Fowler (2017), Adam Scott (2016), Rory McIlroy (2012) and Ernie Els (2008). The roster for this year’s tournament has been announced yet, but be assured there will be many top ranked golfers here.

Other than the main golf tournament, you will find many “special events” during this week. These events would be the Junior Honda Classic, The Honda Classic 5K and the kick-off party held at the Gardens Mall. Another special event is “The First Tee Invitational” held the Monday directly after The Honda Classic, where the Champion Course is all yours to see what the pros go through! This is your one chance to experience what PGA TOUR professionals do on Championship Sunday. The Champion Course will be set up in the same condition with the same pin placements as it was for the final round the day before.
